All people dressed in a tunic before going outside
Male tunic - reached knees
Women tunic - longer-reached ground, long sleeve
Toga
Only worn by free Roman citizens
A toga was like a large blanket draped over body leaving one arm free
Made of wool
Footwear
Sandals with open toes - proper footwear for indoors
Shoes encased the foot and covered the toes - appropriate for outdoors, always worn with the toga
When visiting upper-class, removed shoes at door slipped on sandals that had been carried by slave
